Cartoon time

A bit of early anime with decent, not great, animation, a bit of Mr. Roboto in the theme tune and a great story (well, an old one, at least), all made for a great show to watch as a kid. Will now go see if it is on DVD.

It is the 31st century. Ulysses killed the giant cyclops when he rescued the children and his son Telemachus. But the ancient gods of Olympus are angry and threaten a terrible revenge.

I really loved the show and that’s not easy to say considering the tragedy that pervades the entire series.

Here’s a link to some ebay links (I don’t think there’s currently a mainstream distributor in the US).

What an excellent discovery! Let me know if you hunt this down, it would be awesome to do an anime night at the office.

On a related note, if you have Netflix, you can stream the feature length anime “Hyper Psychic Geo: Garaga” on your computer. It is a bit of classic sci-fi, complete with a race of psychic exotics, a hero with a mysterious past, and an evil cyborg. It is par excellence.

Ah, Ulyseee-ee-ee-eess. Great stuff, second only to Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds in my childhood.

Charles: thanks for the link—I think: it’s tempting.

Jason, it’s a 10-hour series, maybe a series of nights? It may be too cheesy to watch.

Gareth, methinks your memory betrays and betrays you!
